Joyce Tavon joined the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance (MHSA) in 2018. Joyce oversees all of MHSA’s current programs and initiatives focused on ending and preventing homelessness. She also plans for the implementation of new initiatives and works towards improving outcomes, ensuring that resources are utilized to the maximum benefit of our constituents. Joyce brings over 30 years of experience working with nonprofits on homelessness and housing solutions, both through consulting and direct work for agencies in Massachusetts. She initially joined MHSA in 1991 as its first paid employee, Director of Housing. She was the Founding Executive Director of HomeStart, and has extensive experience in strategy, planning and fundraising. Most recently she worked with Father Bill’s & MainSpring and the South Shore region to address homelessness as well as assisted several communities with strengthening their HUD Continuum of Care planning. Joyce has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Brown University and a Master of City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
