MHSA’s President & Executive Director Joe Finn shared his opinion on the necessary shift homeless services must take, in the latest article from Harvard University Advanced Leadership Initiative Social Impact Review: “The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the failure of Massachusetts, as well as states across the country, to address the unique needs of people with complex medical histories experiencing homelessness… The [Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation] study confirms what MHSA has long suspected: when linked with essential services, the provision of permanent housing results in better utilization of less costly outpatient medical care and a greater use of much-needed behavioral health services.”
