MHSA YPG Member Spotlight: Joanna Keenan

The MHSA Young Professionals Group (MHSA YPG) is dedicated to creating a dynamic environment that fosters connections between young professionals as they engage in ending homelessness. As the group continues to grow, we have launched a member spotlight series that highlights the different experiences of young professionals who are currently involved with MHSA YPG. This week, you’ll learn more about Joanna Keenan and her time with MHSA YPG!

Associate, Adler, Pollock & Sheehan P.C.

How long have you been a part of MHSA YPG?

I have been involved with MHSA YPG since April 2014.

Why did you become involved?

My friend Jeremiah Hasson became involved with MHSA YPG after meeting Joe Finn at a community breakfast. After speaking to Jeremiah Hasson about the great work that MHSA does around finding solutions to homelessness in Massachusetts, I decided to be a part of it.

If someone asked you to describe the work that MHSA does, what would you say?

MHSA is dedicated to ending homelessness in Massachusetts by initiating innovative methods. MHSA works with homeless service providers, public agencies and national partners to create and implement programs aimed at ending homelessness in the Commonwealth.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of MHSA YPG?

The best part is the people. I have met so many smart, passionate and hardworking people since becoming involved with MHSA. Their commitment to ending homelessness in Massachusetts is inspiring.

Why have you stayed connected?

I have stayed connected with MHSA YPG because I believe in the cause and want to contribute to it in any small way I can. I hope to encourage more young professionals to get involved and help raise awareness of MHSA’s mission.

What is your vision for the future of MHSA YPG?

With such great individuals involved in the organization, I have no doubt that MHSA YPG will continue to grow not only in members, but in accomplishments. I believe as more young professionals get involved, they will help to grow MHSA’s network. A bigger network means more fundraising opportunities and more advocates spreading MHSA’s message, which translates into a stronger force toward ending homelessness in Massachusetts.
